Description:
It is located at "Kefalari tou Ai-Yanni", a spot of great natural beauty 1.5 Km from Dimitsana in the Central Peloponnese. On a site with an area of 1,000 square metres, the buildings of a water-mill (also housing a fulling-tub), a tannery (with the tanner's house) and a powder mill have been reconstructed, and the permanent equipment of those installations has been restored to its original form and functions.
The ruins of two more tanneries have been laid out for visitors, and three new buildings ( museum shop and storerooms) have been constructed to meet the operational requirements of the museum. All these pre-industrial manufacturing units rely on the use of water power. |
